Accompanied by the university’s rector, Vladimir Litvinenko, Mr Putin looked over the latest developments at the university’s laboratory, visited the main library, which has a collection of more than 1.2 million volumes, including rare books from the XV-XIX centuries, and looked over the Mining Museum’s exhibition.
The President also met with the university’s students and congratulated them on St Tatyana’s Day, which Russia’s students celebrate as their holiday on January 25.
The Mining University holds the status of National Research University. It includes more than 10 research and educational centres and collective use centres and has 60 research laboratories.
