Following their meeting and the talks between Russia and Turkmenistan President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov made a Joint Declaration.
The document states that the two presidents confirm the strategic nature of relations between Russia and Turkmenistan and stress they are gradually developing in a wide range of areas.
The document notes that a high level of partnership exists between the various actors in the countries' fuel and energy sectors engaged in the design and construction of important pipeline and infrastructure facilities.
The parties paid particular attention to the project of the Caspian gas pipeline. After this pipeline is operation the volume of natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan to Russia will increase substantially.
