Speaking of his upcoming meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, Mr Medvedev said he hoped that this will be not just a chance to get to know each other, but also a full-fledged exchange of views on the whole spectrum of Russian-U.S. relations and all of the most important issues currently on the international agenda.
The President noted the important part that Russia-USA: A Look into the Future plays in building bilateral relations, and the fact that the group continued its work despite certain difficulties that had taken place in relations between the two countries previously. Both countries have an interest in the group’s work, Mr Medvedev said.
Russia-USA: A Look into the Future is co-chaired by former Russian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yevgeny Primakov, and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
The American delegation at the meeting included Thomas Graham, former special presidential advisor for Russian affairs, Sam Nunn, former chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services, David O’Reilly, chairman and chief executive officer of Chevron, former Secretary of Defence William Perry, former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, Martin Feldstein, former presidential economic advisor, George Schultz, former secretary of state, and U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Byerly.
