The message reads, in part:
”You will discuss a wide range of issues that concern Muslims both in Russia and throughout the world. These include the development problems of spiritual education, the preservation of Islam's centuries-old heritage, and cooperation with Muslim communities to combat xenophobia, nationalism and other threats.
In modern Russia, where millions of Muslims live, much is being done to promote the opening of new mosques and madrassas [Islamic religious schools], and for the reconstruction of Islamic cultural monuments. We highly appreciate the contribution by Muslim organisations to strengthening mutual understanding between different faiths, and to stability and interethnic harmony in our society.
Our country is developing very close and multifaceted relations with Islamic countries. As an observer, Russia actively cooperates with the Organisation of the Islamic Conference. And Muslim religious and social associations play an important role in expanding such contacts, as well as in the implementation of international cultural and educational projects.“
