The talks between the three presidents were on a settlement to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The meeting in Chisinau was the seventh round of direct talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the last 18 months.
The first round of direct talks took place on June 6, 2008, in St Petersburg on the sidelines of an informal CIS summit.
At the Russian President’s initiative, a second round of talks between the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents took place and resulted in the signing of a joint declaration on the principles for a settlement to the conflict on November 2, 2008.
The next meetings between Mr Aliyev and Mr Sargsyan took place on January 28 and May 7, 2009, the Nagorno Karabakh issue was discussed at a trilateral meeting with Mr Medvedev on June 4, 2009. The Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders met again on July 17 in Moscow, and held a trilateral meeting with Mr Medvedev on July 18.
