The Governor briefed the President on the pace and conditions of oil production in the region. According to Alexander Filipenko, nearly half the oil extracted in the country comes from the Yugra field.
The head of state noted the need to address not only oil recovery but also exploration, and agreed with the Governor’s proposal to single out distinguished oilmen.
They also discussed the activities taking place in Khanty-Mansiysk at the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples. Dmitry Medvedev stressed the importance of the Congress for the development of small nations.
