Dmitry Medvedev and President of Guatemala Alvaro Colom discussed bilateral trade and economic cooperation and developing Russia’s ties with Latin American countries.
The two presidents ended their talks by adopting a joint declaration reflecting the main areas in which Russia and Guatemala will build up their cooperation and setting out the two leaders’ positions on current international affairs.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Colom oversaw the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy and the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry.
The two leaders instructed their countries’ relevant agencies to draft bilateral agreements ending visa formalities.
Mr Colom invited Mr Medvedev to make an official visit to Guatemala in the aim of further strengthening the two countries’ relations. The invitation was accepted with thanks.
