The message reads, in part:
“I am delighted to offer my greetings on Sambo Day, which is officially marked for the first time this year, and on the 85th anniversary of sambo’s recognition as a sport in our country.
This holiday is a good opportunity to remember many generations of prominent compatriots, athletes, coaches, sports managers, and everyone who contributed their work and talent to laying the groundwork for the development of this unique wrestling sport. Due to the wonderful traditions they established, we are implementing major, popular projects aimed at promoting the values of physical fitness and healthy living. Sambo Day is one of these projects held at the initiative and with the support of athletes and enthusiasts.
I am sure that the common celebration of this event will help promote this sport, involve people of various ages, including young people, and facilitate the harmonious development of the younger generation.”
