Message from the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States to War Veterans and Home Front Workers on the 65th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Background information Great Patriotic War

Dear veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front toilers,

We wish you our sincere congratulations on the 65th anniversary of Victory in the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War.

This war will remain forever as the most terrible and bloody conflict in the history of humanity. Our peoples suffered immense losses during those years. At the cost of untold effort on the frontlines and in the rear you defeated the enemy and brought liberation to millions.

The war years forged the friendship between our peoples, whose courage and determination played a decisive role in the common victory. We are profoundly grateful to you, the victorious generation, who have handed down to us your worthy traditions of brotherhood and solidarity and your invaluable legacy of unity and mutual assistance.

We will continue to hold dear and sacred the memory of the fallen and protect in every way the social and economic rights and lawful interests of the Great Patriotic War veterans and home front toilers.

From the depths of our hearts we wish you good health, long life and prosperity. Glory to the victors in the Great Patriotic War! Happy Victory Day!
