It is a pleasure to greet you ahead of Construction Worker’s Day and congratulate all current workers and veterans of the construction sector on the upcoming holiday. This critical industry is rightfully considered one of the drivers of the Russian economy. Everyone knows that if construction works are underway in a city, a town, or a village, the population centre in question has good development prospects, and plans towards this end are being implemented.
Several regions will join us today where new modern education, transport, culture, and recreation facilities have been built which their residents truly need.
Millions of people are employed in the construction sector. Their creative work commands unconditional respect. Thanks to your experience, high skills, and dedication, you implement large-scale infrastructure projects, build apartment buildings, schools, hospitals, and other important social facilities, construct and repair motorways and railways, improve public spaces, and make a tremendous contribution to achieving our core goal – to raise living standards and improve the quality of life.
A total of about 630 million square metres of housing have been commissioned since 2019. As a result, over 25 million families have improved their living conditions.
Road construction is making wide strides. Last year, over 55 percent of regional roads were brought up to standard. The share of roads in major metropolitan areas that meet regulatory requirements reached 85 percent. Hundreds of bridges and overpasses that make driving safer and more convenient have been built.
Of particular note is the construction workers’ dedicated work to rebuild our historical territories, Donbass and Novorossiya. Despite the challenging circumstances, housing, industrial facilities, transport, and utility infrastructure are being built and repaired in these territories.
The latest technologies and innovative materials, along with advanced management solutions, are being adopted and used in construction on a wider scale, which is also important given the plans outlined in the Infrastructure for Life national project. I look forward to the construction sector completing all the tasks assigned to it with flying colours.

Vladimir Putin: Colleagues, as I mentioned earlier – and everyone is talking about it – today’s event is taking place in the run-up to Construction Worker’s Day. Nearly every speaker mentioned plans for developing their respective regions which is a hallmark of today across the whole of the Russian Federation.
Large-scale construction effort is underway practically across the entire country focusing on infrastructure, housing, relocation from dilapidated housing, as well as industrial projects. This work is making wide strides. As noted earlier, builders are creators. They create something new, look forward, and improve lives of the people who use a particular facility and life of the nation as a whole.
Once again, I congratulate all construction sector workers on their upcoming professional holiday. Thank you for the good work, and I wish you every success in what you do. Thank you very much.
