The message reads, in part:
“Throughout our country’s history border guards have always defended our homeland’s borders. This year, as we celebrate the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, I address particular words of gratitude to the veterans who were the first to take on the Nazi attack. Their resistance sets an example of steadfastness and loyalty to one’s duty for today’s generation of military servicemen to follow.
Ensuring the security of our national borders is part of a series of big challenges that we must address, including fighting terrorism and illegal migration, and preventing drugs trafficking and smuggling.
I am sure that your professionalism and devotion to your duties will continue to keep our borders reliably safe and ensure our people’s peace and security.”
