Vladimir Putin has instructed that an executive order be prepared to award the Hero of the Russian Federation star to Sergei Yarashev, a 21-year-old soldier from Samara who single-handedly held positions near the village of Grishino in the Krasnoarmeysk sector for 68 days. He is currently in hospital recovering after a major surgery.
Denis Pushilin, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, reported Yarashev’s heroic actions to the President during their meeting. Following the meeting, the President received a detailed report from the Defence Ministry and spoke with Colonel General Sergei Medvedev, commander of the Southern Group of Forces.
The executive order will be signed shortly.
