Vladimir Putin took
part in a meeting of the SCO Heads of State
Council. The SCO leaders
discussed the Organisation’s current activities, issues pertaining to the fight
against terrorism, the situation in the Middle East and the decision to grant
India and Pakistan the status of full members of the SCO.
A package of documents was adopted based on the results of the summit, in particular, the Astana Declaration, and India’s and Pakistan’s permanent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was approved.
During the visit, the President of Russia had meetings with President of China Xi Jinping, Prime
Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin
Elbegdorj.
Mr Putin also attended the opening of the Astana
EXPO 2017 specialised international exhibition and visited the Russian pavilion
there.
