Putin arrived in Kazan to participate in the 16th
BRICS Summit, which was conducted under the Russian chairmanship with the theme
of Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security.
On October 22, the first day of the summit, the President held meetings with President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi,
President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, President of China Xi Jinping, and President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The heads of delegations also attended
a concert and an informal dinner for the leaders of the group.
On October 23, BRICS Summit meetings were convened in both restricted and expanded
formats, along with a gala reception hosted on behalf of the President of Russia, to which the group's heads of state and the leaders of countries
interested in cooperation with BRICS were invited. Vladimir Putin held a series
of bilateral meetings: with President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Prime
Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed.
On the final day of the summit, October 24, a BRICS Plus/Outreach plenary
session was held, followed by a news conference by the President of Russia. Additionally,
the President continued a series of bilateral consultations: with President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas,
President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Bolivia
Luis Alberto Arce Catacora, as well as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres,
Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, and President of Republika Srpska
Milorad Dodik.
