The First Lady toured the centre’s facilities and learned about the diagnostic and treatment methods used there, talked with doctors and nurses, mothers-to-be, and parents of the little patients. Mrs Medvedeva congratulated the patients and all of Russia’s women on Mother’s Day and wished them and their children good health.
The Perinatal Cardiological Centre, the only one of its kind in Russia, has been working since 2002 at the Bakoulev Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. The centre’s doctors work to save the lives of new-born infants with heart defects and help women with heart problems through pregnancy and childbirth.
