On the eve of Victory Day, Dmitry Medvedev laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin wall.

Mr Medvedev also placed flowers at the memorials before the Kremlin wall honouring the hero-cities and the cities of military glory Background information City of Military Glory .

A ceremonial march by the Moscow garrison troops concluded the ceremony.

The previous day, Mr Medvedev issued presidential executive orders conferring the title of City of Military Glory on three Russian cities – Stary Oskol, Kolpino, and Anapa.
