Official visit to Tajikistan

Russian-Tajikistani talks on bilateral economic, trade, military technical and humanitarian cooperation have taken place in Dushanbe. Issues on the regional and international agendas were also discussed.

The talks focused in particular on ways to maintain stability in the region and on cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States Background information Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) , Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Background information Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) , Collective Security Treaty Organisation Background information Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) , and the Eurasian Economic Community Background information Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) .

Mr Medvedev and Mr Rahmon signed a border cooperation agreement and a joint declaration following their talks.

The two presidents also witnessed the signing of a protocol between the Russian Federal Security Service and Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security on border cooperation, and the intergovernmental economic cooperation programme for 2011–2014.
