The heads of three Slavic states attended Easter liturgy in front of the church.
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II presented each of them an icon of his saint and a crosier with a representation of the Holy Trinity.
The three presidents honoured the memory of soldiers killed in the Great Patriotic War. The clergy commemorated all those who died in the tank battle of Kursk in July 1943.
Alexy II blessed a Bell of Unity of Three Slavic Nations, in the presence of the three presidents. Inscribed on the bell are the words of St. Sergius of Radonezh: “In love and unity shall we be saved.” The bell bears a depiction of the Holy Trinity as a symbol of unity, and the faces of Prince Vladimir the Illuminator of Russia, St. Sergius of Radonezh, and St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
