The ceremony, which marked the 74th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, was also attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, the heads of other ministries and agencies, war veterans, military commanders and public representatives.

The wreath-laying was followed by a ceremonial march by troops from the Moscow Garrison.

The President also laid flowers at the memorial plaques honouring the hero cities and cities of military glory.
