The message reads, in part:
“I am pleased to note that the World Tatar Congress that unites Tatar ethnic and cultural organisations in many regions of Russia and foreign countries is celebrating its anniversary amid a string of impressive achievements. In close cooperation with government bodies and public organisations, it is conducting large-scale, important work aimed at preserving the native language, developing the ancient, unique culture of the Tatar people and instilling in youth a commitment to the traditions and customs of their forebears and the lofty ideals of patriotism and justice. Today, Tatars are faithfully fulfilling their duty to the Motherland, protecting their homeland and demonstrating outstanding achievements in the spheres of labour, science, culture and sport, to name a few.
I would like to emphasise that the state will continue paying close attention to preserving the identity and unique character of every nation as an important, inalienable part of the vast historical and cultural legacy of our multi-ethnic Motherland. This is why much needed educational and information projects and initiatives on creating cultural and educational centres must be supported.
I am confident that the current congress will be a momentous event in the life of the Republic of Tatarstan and contribute to promoting friendship and understanding among the peoples of Russia.”
