In his remarks, Igor Levitin highlighted the need to introduce up-to-date digital platforms to be able to give a more accurate assessment of Russian regions’ efforts to promote popular sports.
Andrei Vorobyov presented a new information system for sports, noting that it promoted five important principles: accessibility of sports facilities; voluntary participation; organisation of events; raising public awareness and marketing; and supporting people's motivation.
Oleg Kozhemyako said the system developed by the Moscow Region needed to be replicated. He also said the State Council commission was reviewing other regions’ proposals on measures to support popular sports to determine if they should be included in the priority action plan to ensure the steady development of the Russian economy.
The report to be delivered at the meeting of the Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport was approved by the participants and will be finalised, taking into account the current socioeconomic situation in conditions of anti-Russia sanctions.
