Trip to St Petersburg. Russia–Africa Summit and Main Naval Parade
On July 26, Russian-Ethiopian talks took place at the Constantine Palace in Strelna to open the second Russia–Africa Summit. On the same day, Vladimir Putin met with BRICS New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff and President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
On July 27, Vladimir Putin addressed the plenary session of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, which focused on technology and security in the name of sovereign development for the benefit of humankind. The President also held a trilateral meeting with Chairperson of the African Union, President of the Union of the Comoros Azali Assoumani and Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, as well as a number of bilateral meetings. In addition, Vladimir Putin had a working breakfast with heads of African regional organisations. In the evening, the summit participants attended the gala reception hosted by President of Russia, which was preceded by the official welcoming ceremony.
On July 28, plenary sessions of the second Russia–Africa Summit took place, with a package of documents adopted and memorandums signed. The President of Russia and Chairperson of the African Union, President of the Union of the Comoros Azali Assoumani made press statements. The programme continued with a series of bilateral conversations with African leaders. The day concluded with a meeting with heads of African delegation on the Ukrainian agenda.
On July 29, international consultations with African leaders continued in Strelna. Following the event, Vladimir Putin answered questions from Russian journalists.
On July 30, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin reviewed the Main Naval Parade held in St Petersburg and Kronstadt on Russian Navy Day. The event was also attended by African leaders and heads of African delegations who took part in the second Russia–Africa Summit.
